Random notes and thoughts:
- To create the variety of plume shapes I was going for I rendered 2 flipbooks that serve the same purpose, have a similar enough silhouette but not so similar that they’re redundant. I managed to fit two 10×5 flipbooks into one texture, and with the help of motion vectors it almost looks smooth, but in the end I wish I had a few more frames.


- Manually darkening the bottom third of these flipbooks helped the feeling of cohesion when stacking several in the particle sim.
- Smoothly fading towards more diffuse smoke while keeping at least some of the original interesting shape was key to the look, and was quite difficult. If I was to start over I would try to work with that in mind earlier.
